RBI panel proposes to raise promoters cap to 26% in private banks

The internal working group of RBI has proposed to raise the cap on promoters’ stake in private banks from the current 15 % to 26 % in 15 years.

Presently, a promoter of a private bank needs to pare holdings to 20 per cent within 10 years, and to 15 per cent within 15 years.

The RBI had constituted the IWG on June 12, 2020, to review extant ownership guidelines and corporate structure for Indian private sector banks.

आरबीआई पैनल ने निजी बैंकों में प्रमोटरों की सीमा बढ़ाकर 26% करने का प्रस्ताव रखा है

आरबीआई के आंतरिक कार्य समूह ने निजी बैंकों में प्रमोटरों की हिस्सेदारी पर मौजूदा 15% से बढ़ाकर 15 वर्षों में 26% करने का प्रस्ताव दिया है।

वर्तमान में, एक निजी बैंक के प्रमोटर को 10 साल के भीतर अपनी हिस्सेदारी 20 फीसदी और 15 साल के भीतर 15 फीसदी करने की जरूरत है।

भारतीय निजी क्षेत्र के बैंकों के लिए मौजूदा स्वामित्व दिशानिर्देशों और कॉर्पोरेट संरचना की समीक्षा करने के लिए आरबीआई ने 12 जून, 2020 को आईडब्ल्यूजी का गठन किया था।

Three oil PSU’s have joined hands to launch Model Retail Outlets to enhance service standards and amenities, across their networks.

GHCL signs MoU worth ₹500 crore with Tamil Nadu

GHCL Limited has signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu for investing ₹500 crore in the State.

As per the MoU, GHCL will set up 40,000 ring spindles in Manaparai, Tiruchirappalli district, to produce synthetic and synthetic blended yarn.

GHCL also plans to develop an EHT (extra high tension) power transmission facility in Manaparai to ensure uninterrupted power supply.

GHCL has proposed to set up a 20 MW solar power park near Musiri, Tiruchirappalli district.

जीएचसीएल ने तिरुचिरापल्ली जिले के मुसिरी के पास 20 मेगावाट सौर ऊर्जा पार्क स्थापित करने का प्रस्ताव दिया है।

Exim Bank commits $100 million loan for Covid vaccines in FY 22

Exim Bank has committed loans worth $100 mn for domestic manufacturers of Covid-19 vaccines.

These loans are being extended to about half a dozen drug makers in the country.

The loans for vaccines are also being extended to other countries.

The bank expects a credit growth of 10% this year.

This will be driven by ‘good’ demand from EPC, textiles, pharma and petroleum sectors, among others.

Its loan portfolio increased 4.43% year-on-year to ₹1,03,851 crore.

Bihar, Jharkhand, UP emerge as poorest states in India: NITI Aayog

NITI Aayog has released its Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI).

According to MPI Bihar, Jharkhand and UP have emerged as the poorest states in India.

Bihar also has the highest number of malnourished people followed by Jharkhand, MP, UP and Chhattisgarh.

Kerala, Goa, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu and Punjab have registered the lowest poverty across India.

The MPI measure uses the methodology developed by the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative and the UNDP.

Prime Volleyball League signs RuPay as title sponsor for 3 years

RuPay, the flagship product of NPCI, has come on board as the title sponsor of the Prime Volleyball League.

Amazon, Asian Paints, Tata Tea top Most Purposeful Brands Ranking

According to Kantar’s BrandZ India 2021 report, Amazon, Tata Tea and Asian Paints emerged as the most purposeful brands in India across technology, FMCG and in non-FMCG categories resp. 

In technology ranking Amazon leads the index followed by Zomato, YouTube, and Google and Swiggy jointly in 4th place. 

While Asian Paints topped the non-FMCG rankings, Samsung and Jio ranked jointly in the 2nd position. , followed by MRF. 

The FMCG category rankings saw Tata Tea top the chart.

YES Bank Partners With Amazon Pay For UPI Transactions

Yes Bank has collaborated with Amazon Pay and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to offer customers an instant real-time payment system through a UPI transaction facility.

The integration enables Amazon Pay to issue UPI IDs with the @yapl handle, allowing customers to make secure, fast, and convenient payments.

Based on a multi-bank model, this collaboration allows Yes Bank to acquire merchants through the Amazon Pay platform.

ADB Approves $ 1.5 Billion Loan to India for Purchasing Covid-19 Vaccines

The ADB has approved a $ 1.5 bn (around Rs 11,185 crore) loan to India for COVID-19 vaccine procurement.

The loan from ADB will fund at least 66.7 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses for an estimated 31.7 crore people, it added.

It will support India’s National Deployment and Vaccination Plan which aims to fully vaccinate 94.47 crore people aged 18 years and above.

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank is expected to co-finance an additional $ 500 million for the project.

Govt forms ‘Central Vista Oversight Committee’ to expedite pace of project

The Union govt formed a high-level ‘Central Vista Oversight Committee’ for 2 years to monitor and expedite the pace of the project.

The committee will be headed by former finance secretary Ratan P Watal.

It include P K Tiwari, Shailendar Roy, Professor Mausam and member and a Joint Secretary MoHUA as the convener.

The committee will ensure a multi-agency, multi-stakeholder coordination for seamless integration of different project works.

CBI special director Praveen Sinha elected to Interpol committee

CBI special Director Praveen Sinha was elected as a delegate for Asia on the executive committee of the Interpol, capping an “intense” and “well-coordinated” campaign across the world by India.

The elections for various positions for the top panel were held at the ongoing 89th Interpol General Assembly in Istanbul.

It has 13 members, including the president and three vice presidents, apart from nine delegates.

The committee is headed by UAE.

According to the Investment Bank Goldman Sachs, India is poised to become the world’s second-largest economy by 2075.

As per the report, India would cross Japan, Germany, and the US With a population of 1.4 billion people.

India’s GDP is estimated to expand remarkably, reaching 52.5 trillion dollars surpassing the US GDP projection.

The labour force participation set to make India the second-largest economy in the world by 2075.

L&T and Spain's Navantia sign agreement for submarine project

L&T has signed a teaming agreement with Spanish-based Navantia for the submission of a techno-commercial bid for the Indian Navy’s prestigious P75 (India) submarine program.

P75 (India) Submarine Project is expected to be valued at €4.8 billion.

Navantia would carry out the design of P75(I) submarines based on its S80 class of submarines.

The first S80 class submarine was launched in 2021 and is undergoing sea trials prior to its delivery to Spanish Navy.

World Population Day is observed every year on July 11 in order to raise awareness about global population issues, including population control.

2023 theme: Unleashing the power of gender equality: Uplifting the voices of women and girls to unlock our world’s infinite possibilities. 

It was established by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 1989, after the day the world approximately reached a population of five billion, which was observed on 11 July 1987.

इसकी स्थापना 1989 में संयुक्त राष्ट्र विकास कार्यक्रम (यूएनडीपी) द्वारा की गई थी, उस दिन के बाद जब दुनिया की आबादी लगभग पांच अरब हो गई थी, जो 11 जुलाई 1987 को मनाया गया था।

MoHUA conducts SBM-U 2.0 Planning & Implementation Review-cum-Workshop

The Housing Ministry organized a review-cum-workshop to evaluate and accelerate the planning and implementation of the SBM-Urban 2.0.

PM Modi launched the 2.0 versions of SBM-U and AMRUT on October 1, 2021.

SBM-U 2.0: Achieving 100% waste segregation in all households and premises and 100% door-to-door collection of segregated waste from each. 

AMRUT 2.0: To provide complete coverage of water supply to all households and sewerage and septage in 500 AMRUT cities.

AMRUT 2.0: 500 AMRUT शहरों में सभी घरों में जल आपूर्ति और सीवरेज और सेप्टेज की पूर्ण कवरेज प्रदान करना।

Gujarat CM launches pilot project of ‘Antyodaya Shramik Suraksha Yojana’

Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel launched the Antyodaya Shram Suraksha Accident Insurance Scheme from Kheda

All those registered under the e-Shram portal from Nadiad will benefit from the scheme.

It is being implemented through the Indian Postal Department, the IPPB, and the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Under this scheme, insurance with a premium of Rs. 289 and Rs. 499 per year will be a big support to workers in the event of death or partial disability.

नडियाद से ई-श्रम पोर्टल के तहत पंजीकृत सभी लोगों को योजना से लाभ होगा।

इसे भारतीय डाक विभाग, आईपीपीबी और श्रम एवं रोजगार मंत्रालय के माध्यम से कार्यान्वित किया जा रहा है।

इस योजना के तहत 100 रुपये के प्रीमियम पर बीमा मिलता है. 289 और रु. मृत्यु या आंशिक विकलांगता की स्थिति में प्रति वर्ष 499 रुपये श्रमिकों के लिए एक बड़ा समर्थन होगा।

OCA elects Sheikh Talal as the new President

Kuwait’s Sheikh Talal Fahad Al Ahmad Al Sabah has been elected as the new President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

He replaced his older brother Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, who led the OCA for 30 years until 2021.

The OCA was founded in 1982 by his father Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who led it until 1990.

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is a governing body of sports in Asia, currently with 45 member National Olympic Committees.
