India signs MoU wit World Bank to improve quality of learning

Government of India, Andhra Pradesh and World Bank has signed the legal agreements for $250 million for a project to improve quality of learning for over 50 lakh students in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Students from all grades and stages of school education will benefit from the project.

Beneficiaries are about 40 lakh students (between the age of six and fourteen) in over 45,000 government schools, and over 10 lakh children.

Aadhaar 2.0- Ushering Next Era of Digital Identity and Smart Governance

Union Minister has inaugurated 3-day workshop titled as ‘Aadhaar 2.0- Ushering the Next Era of Digital Identity and Smart Governance’ at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

It will also be telecast live on YouTube, Twitter and Facebook handles of UIDAI.

It is considering Aadhaar as a Trusted ID as a platform and method for delivering innovative digital solutions.

It also focuses on strategies of Aadhaar that can strengthen and simplify its service delivery.

Ministry of Civil Aviation, ISB signs MoU to analyze RCS on air travel

Indian School of Business (ISB) has signed MoU with Ministry of Civil Aviation to undertake research to analyze the effect of the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) on commercial air travel. 

This MoU marks the extension of the socio-economic impact study of UDAN scheme conducted by ISB pro-bono basis in 2020.

RCS was launched in 2016 to stimulate regional air connectivity. It will be jointly funded by the central government and state governments.

नागरिक उड्डयन मंत्रालय, आईएसबी ने हवाई यात्रा पर आरसीएस का विश्लेषण करने के लिए समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किए

इंडियन स्कूल ऑफ बिजनेस (आईएसबी) ने वाणिज्यिक हवाई यात्रा पर क्षेत्रीय कनेक्टिविटी योजना (आरसीएस) के प्रभाव का विश्लेषण करने के लिए अनुसंधान करने के लिए नागरिक उड्डयन मंत्रालय के साथ समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं।

यह समझौता ज्ञापन 2020 में आईएसबी प्रो-बोनो आधार द्वारा आयोजित UDAN योजना के सामाजिक-आर्थिक प्रभाव अध्ययन के विस्तार का प्रतीक है।

आरसीएस को 2016 में क्षेत्रीय हवाई संपर्क को प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए लॉन्च किया गया था। इसे केंद्र सरकार और राज्य सरकारों द्वारा संयुक्त रूप से वित्त पोषित किया जाएगा।

Railway Minister announces introduction of ‘Bharat Gaurav Trains’

Minister of Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced the introduction of theme-based tourist circuit trains ‘Bharat Gaurav Trains’ to tap the vast tourism potential of India. 

Service Provider will be free to decide theme like Guru Kripa trains for covering important places of Sikh culture, Ramayana trains for places connected with Lord Shri Ram etc.

Service Provider will offer all-inclusive package to tourist.

These trains will have 14 to 20 coaches.

सेवा प्रदाता सिख संस्कृति के महत्वपूर्ण स्थानों को कवर करने के लिए गुरु कृपा ट्रेन, भगवान श्री राम से जुड़े स्थानों के लिए रामायण ट्रेन आदि विषय तय करने के लिए स्वतंत्र होंगे।

सेवा प्रदाता पर्यटकों को सर्व-समावेशी पैकेज की पेशकश करेगा।

इन ट्रेनों में 14 से 20 कोच होंगे।

Jitendra Singh inaugurates separate Bench of CAT at Srinagar

Union Minister, Jitendra Singh has inaugurated a separate Bench of Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) at Srinagarto deal exclusively with service matters of govt employees. 

After this, DoPT- CAT, CIC and CVC are fully functional in UTs of J&K and Ladakh. 

Jurisdiction of Jammu Bench of CAT extends up to 10 districts of UT of J&K and Leh from UT of Ladakh, while jurisdiction of Srinagar Bench extends up to 10 districts of UT of J&K and Kargil from Ladakh.

NITI Aayog releases SDG Urban Index and Dashboard 2021–22

NITI Aayog under Indo-German Cooperation has released Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Urban Index and Dashboard 2021–22. 

It ranks 56 urban areas on 77 SDG indicators across 46 targets of SDG framework. 

Shimla tops the Index followed by Coimbatore, Chandigarh, Thiruvananthapuram. 

Worst performers: Patna, Guwahati, Itanagar, Meerut, Dhanbad. 

Urban areas have been classified as:

Aspirant: 0–49

Performer: 50–64

Front-Runner: 65–99

Achiever: 100

नीति आयोग ने एसडीजी अर्बन इंडेक्स और डैशबोर्ड 2021-22 जारी किया

भारत-जर्मन सहयोग के तहत नीति आयोग ने सतत विकास लक्ष्य (एसडीजी) शहरी सूचकांक और डैशबोर्ड 2021-22 जारी किया है।

यह एसडीजी ढांचे के 46 लक्ष्यों में 77 एसडीजी संकेतकों पर 56 शहरी क्षेत्रों को रैंक करता है।

इस सूचकांक में शिमला सबसे ऊपर है और उसके बाद कोयंबटूर, चंडीगढ़, तिरुवनंतपुरम का स्थान है।

सबसे खराब प्रदर्शन करने वाले: पटना, गुवाहाटी, ईटानगर, मेरठ, धनबाद।

Biennial trilateral exercise ‘Dosti’ underway for IOR stablility

The 15th edition of biennial trilateral exercise ‘Dosti’ by the coast guard forces of Maldives, India and Sri Lanka is underway in Maldives from 20th to 24th November. 

ICGS Vajra and ICGS Apoorva, and Sri Lanka Coast Guard’s SLCGS Suraksha participated in the exercise.

It was introduced in 1991 between Indian and Maldives. Sri Lanka joined the exercise in 2012. 

Aim: to strengthen friendship, enhance mutual operational capabilities, interoperability, cooperation.

37th edition of India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) held

The 37th edition of India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) is being held in the Indian Ocean region (IOR) from 23rd to 24th November 2021.

Indigenously built Indian Naval Ship (INS) Khanjar and Dornier Maritime Patrol Aircraft is participating in the CORPAT. 

Indonesian Naval Ship KRI Sultan Thaha Syaifuddin, (376) is participating from Indonesia. 

It was conducted for the first time in 2002. 

CORPAT is held twice in a year to ensure safety and security.

स्वदेश निर्मित भारतीय नौसेना जहाज (आईएनएस) खंजर और डोर्नियर समुद्री गश्ती विमान कोरपैट में भाग ले रहे हैं।

इंडोनेशियाई नौसेना जहाज केआरआई सुल्तान थाहा सैयफुद्दीन, (376) इंडोनेशिया से भाग ले रहा है।

यह पहली बार 2002 में आयोजित किया गया था।

PM Narendra Modi to be awarded prestigious Lokmanya Tilak Award 2023

The Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust (Hind Swaraj Sangh) would confer the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak National Award 2023 to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Pune on August 1, 2023.

Reason: This award recognizes PM Modi's supreme leadership under which India has climbed the ladder of progress

It is presented annually on the occasion of Lokmanya Tilak's death anniversary.

According to the Investment Bank Goldman Sachs, India is poised to become the world’s second-largest economy by 2075.

As per the report, India would cross Japan, Germany, and the US With a population of 1.4 billion people.

India’s GDP is estimated to expand remarkably, reaching 52.5 trillion dollars surpassing the US GDP projection.

The labour force participation set to make India the second-largest economy in the world by 2075.

L&T and Spain's Navantia sign agreement for submarine project

L&T has signed a teaming agreement with Spanish-based Navantia for the submission of a techno-commercial bid for the Indian Navy’s prestigious P75 (India) submarine program.

P75 (India) Submarine Project is expected to be valued at €4.8 billion.

Navantia would carry out the design of P75(I) submarines based on its S80 class of submarines.

The first S80 class submarine was launched in 2021 and is undergoing sea trials prior to its delivery to Spanish Navy.

नवंतिया अपनी S80 श्रेणी की पनडुब्बियों के आधार पर P75(I) पनडुब्बियों का डिज़ाइन तैयार करेगी।

According to a study by Invesco Global Sovereign Asset Management, India has overtaken China to become the most attractive emerging market for investing in sovereign wealth funds this year.

Reason: This is due to its solid demographics, political stability, and proactive regulation. 

Positives for the nation also include the rapidly expanding demography, strong regulatory actions, and a welcoming climate for sovereign investors.

World Population Day 2023: 11 July

World Population Day is observed every year on July 11 in order to raise awareness about global population issues, including population control.

2023 theme: Unleashing the power of gender equality: Uplifting the voices of women and girls to unlock our world’s infinite possibilities. 

It was established by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 1989, after the day the world approximately reached a population of five billion, which was observed on 11 July 1987.

MoHUA conducts SBM-U 2.0 Planning & Implementation Review-cum-Workshop

The Housing Ministry organized a review-cum-workshop to evaluate and accelerate the planning and implementation of the SBM-Urban 2.0.

SBM-U 2.0: Achieving 100% waste segregation in all households and premises and 100% door-to-door collection of segregated waste from each. 

AMRUT 2.0: To provide complete coverage of water supply to all households and sewerage and septage in 500 AMRUT cities.

Gujarat CM launches pilot project of ‘Antyodaya Shramik Suraksha Yojana’

Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel launched the Antyodaya Shram Suraksha Accident Insurance Scheme from Kheda

All those registered under the e-Shram portal from Nadiad will benefit from the scheme.

It is being implemented through the Indian Postal Department, the IPPB, and the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Under this scheme, insurance with a premium of Rs. 289 and Rs. 499 per year will be a big support to workers in the event of death or partial disability.

इसे भारतीय डाक विभाग, आईपीपीबी और श्रम एवं रोजगार मंत्रालय के माध्यम से कार्यान्वित किया जा रहा है।

इस योजना के तहत 100 रुपये के प्रीमियम पर बीमा मिलता है. 289 और रु. मृत्यु या आंशिक विकलांगता की स्थिति में प्रति वर्ष 499 रुपये श्रमिकों के लिए एक बड़ा समर्थन होगा।

OCA elects Sheikh Talal as the new President

Kuwait’s Sheikh Talal Fahad Al Ahmad Al Sabah has been elected as the new President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

He replaced his older brother Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, who led the OCA for 30 years until 2021.

The OCA was founded in 1982 by his father Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who led it until 1990.

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is a governing body of sports in Asia, currently with 45 member National Olympic Committees.
