Ministry of Rural Development launched ‘Nai Chetna’ Gender Campaign

‘Nai Chetna’ campaign was launched by the Ministry of Rural Development and involves sensitizing women, especially in rural areas.

Aim: To enable women to acknowledge, prepare, and take support in situations of comprise.

This campaign was launched on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against women on 25th November 2022.

The campaign also aims to raise awareness about the institutional mechanisms available for women to fight gender-based violence.

KVIC Chairman inaugurates the ambitious Re-Hab Project

KVIC Chairman, Manoj Kumar has inaugurated the ambitious Re-Hab Project (Reducing Human Attacks using Honey Bees) by Khadi and Village Industries Commission at village Chausla, District Nainital.

He has also distributed 330 Bee-boxes, bee-colonies and toolkits along with the honey extractors to the rural beneficiaries in Chausla village, free of cost.

As a new initiative, the Re-Hab project will be run by KVIC at selected locations for a period of one year.

Power Ministry launches scheme for procurement of aggregate power

Ministry of Power has launched a scheme for procurement of aggregate power of 4500 MW for five years under SHAKTI Policy.

Aim: To help states that are facing power shortage and help generation plants to increase their capacities.

PFC Consulting Limited has been designated as the nodal agency.

Under the scheme, PFC Consulting Ltd has invited bids for the supply of 4,500 MW.

Supply of electricity will commence from April 2023. 

Tamil Nadu CM inaugurates SIPCOT industrial park

Tamil Nadu CM, M K Stalin has inaugurated the SIPCOT Industrial Park at Eraiyur in Perambalur district, Tamil Nadu.

He has also laid the foundation stone for the Phoenix Kothari Footwear Park.

SIPCOT (State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited) industrial park in the industrially backward district of Perambalur.

The park established on 243.49 acre in Eraiyur on the Chennai-Tiruchy national highway.

7th Global Technology Summit organised in New Delhi

The 7th Global Technology Summit has been organised from 29th Nov - 1st Dec 2022 in New Delhi in a hybrid format.

This summit is India’s annual flagship event on Geotechnology and is co-hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs and Carnegie India.

2022 theme: Geopolitics of Technology

Ministers and senior government officials from the US, Singapore, Japan, Nigeria, Brazil, Bhutan, the European Union, and other countries has participated in the Summit.

India-Malaysia joint military Exercise Harimau Shakti 2022 begins

A joint military exercise between India-Malaysia, Harimau Shakti-2022 has been started at Pulai Klang in Malaysia.

The military exercise will culminate on the 12th December 2022.

Aim: To enhance the defence cooperation between Indian Army and the Malaysian Army.

The combat troops of the Garhwal Rifles Regiment of the Indian Army and the Royal Malay Regiment of the Malaysian Army participated in the exercise.

It is an annual training event has been conducted since 2012.

Ministry of Health awarded at 41st IITF 2022

The pavilion of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has won the Outstanding Contribution towards Public Communication and Outreach award at 41st India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2022 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

2022 theme of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare: Heal in India, Heal by India.

The Health Pavilion has showcased various initiatives, schemes and achievements of the Union Health Ministry.

Madras Boat Club women won 2022 Adyar trophy

The Madras Boat Club (women) has clinched the Adyar trophy at the 81st Annual Madras-Colombo Rowing Regatta at Colombo, Sri Lanka.

While, The Colombo Rowing Club (men) has lifted the Deepam trophy at the event.

The first-ever Madras-Colombo Regatta was held in 1898 and is considered to be the second oldest sporting event next only to Oxford - Cambridge Regatta.

The two rowing clubs, the Madras Boat Club and the Colombo Rowing Club organise the regatta alternately.

R.K Singh inaugurates Mobile Health Clinics 'Doctor Apke Dwar'

R.K. Singh (Minister of Power) has inaugurated REC’s CSR initiative for procurement, operation and maintenance of ten Mobile Health Clinics (MHC) at Bhojpur, Bihar.

Total cost of project: Rs. 12.68 crore. 

Out of 10 MHCs, three are exclusively for women, that will provide door-step primary health care service to the underprivileged population across all 14 blocks of Bhojpur, Bihar.

Each MHC will organize over 20 camps per month and check 50-70 patients every day.

Iranian film ‘Nargesi’ wins ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi Medal at IFFI 53

Nargesi (Iranian film), Directed by Payam Eskandari has won the ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi Medal at the 53rd edition of IFFI.

This award conferred to a film that best reflects Mahatma Gandhi's ideals of peace, tolerance and non-violence.

Other awards:

Indian Film Personality of the Year – Chiranjeevi. 

Best Film (Golden Peacock)- I Have Electric Dreams. 

Best Actor (Female)- Daniela Marin Navarro (for I Have Electric Dreams). 

Best Actor (Male)- Vahid Mobasheri (for No End). 

India’s first private launchpad set up by AgniKul Cosmos at Sriharikota

AgniKul Cosmos (space-tech startup) has set up India's first private launchpad and mission control centre at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.

The launchpad is designed and operated by AgniKul.

It has incubated at the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras, plans to guide and control its upcoming launches from this facility.

In its first launch, a two-stage launch vehicle, ‘Agnibaan’ is intended to carry a payload of up to 100 kg to around 700 km altitude.

PM Narendra Modi to be awarded prestigious Lokmanya Tilak Award 2023

The Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust (Hind Swaraj Sangh) would confer the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak National Award 2023 to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Pune on August 1, 2023.

Reason: This award recognizes PM Modi's supreme leadership under which India has climbed the ladder of progress

It is presented annually on the occasion of Lokmanya Tilak's death anniversary.

Other awardees: Indira Gandhi, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Sharad Pawar, Cyrus Poonawalla, and Manmohan Singh. 

J&K Bank wins award for Best Performance in CASA

Jammu & Kashmir Bank has been felicitated for the Best Performance in CASA-India (1st Runner up in Small Bank Category) at ICC Emerging Asia Banking Conclave & Awards 2022.

The event was participated by banks from India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka & Myanmar.

The function was organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Goa.

India poised to become world’s 2nd-largest economy by 2075: Goldman Sachs

According to the Investment Bank Goldman Sachs, India is poised to become the world’s second-largest economy by 2075.

As per the report, India would cross Japan, Germany, and the US With a population of 1.4 billion people.

India’s GDP is estimated to expand remarkably, reaching 52.5 trillion dollars surpassing the US GDP projection.

The labour force participation set to make India the second-largest economy in the world by 2075.

L&T and Spain's Navantia sign agreement for submarine project

L&T has signed a teaming agreement with Spanish-based Navantia for the submission of a techno-commercial bid for the Indian Navy’s prestigious P75 (India) submarine program.

P75 (India) Submarine Project is expected to be valued at €4.8 billion.

Navantia would carry out the design of P75(I) submarines based on its S80 class of submarines.

The first S80 class submarine was launched in 2021 and is undergoing sea trials prior to its delivery to Spanish Navy. 

India overtakes China as most attractive emerging market for investing

According to a study by Invesco Global Sovereign Asset Management, India has overtaken China to become the most attractive emerging market for investing in sovereign wealth funds this year.

Reason: This is due to its solid demographics, political stability, and proactive regulation. 

Positives for the nation also include the rapidly expanding demography, strong regulatory actions, and a welcoming climate for sovereign investors.

World Population Day 2023: 11 July

World Population Day is observed every year on July 11 in order to raise awareness about global population issues, including population control.

2023 theme: Unleashing the power of gender equality: Uplifting the voices of women and girls to unlock our world’s infinite possibilities. 

It was established by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 1989, after the day the world approximately reached a population of five billion, which was observed on 11 July 1987.

MoHUA conducts SBM-U 2.0 Planning & Implementation Review-cum-Workshop

The Housing Ministry organized a review-cum-workshop to evaluate and accelerate the planning and implementation of the SBM-Urban 2.0.

PM Modi launched the 2.0 versions of SBM-U and AMRUT on October 1, 2021.

SBM-U 2.0: Achieving 100% waste segregation in all households and premises and 100% door-to-door collection of segregated waste from each. 

AMRUT 2.0: To provide complete coverage of water supply to all households and sewerage and septage in 500 AMRUT cities. 

Gujarat CM launches pilot project of ‘Antyodaya Shramik Suraksha Yojana’

Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel launched the Antyodaya Shram Suraksha Accident Insurance Scheme from Kheda

All those registered under the e-Shram portal from Nadiad will benefit from the scheme.

It is being implemented through the Indian Postal Department, the IPPB, and the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Under this scheme, insurance with a premium of Rs. 289 and Rs. 499 per year will be a big support to workers in the event of death or partial disability.

OCA elects Sheikh Talal as the new President

Kuwait’s Sheikh Talal Fahad Al Ahmad Al Sabah has been elected as the new President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

He replaced his older brother Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, who led the OCA for 30 years until 2021.

The OCA was founded in 1982 by his father Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who led it until 1990.

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is a governing body of sports in Asia, currently with 45 member National Olympic Committees.
