India’s GDP is likely to grow at a growth rate of about 7% in 2022-23 according to a RBI report.

As per the RBI report, India’s GDP is expected to grow at a growth rate between 6.1% and 6.3% in the June-September quarter of the current fiscal.

In its report, RBI said that the Indian Economy has shown resilience to multiple shocks since early 2020. However, India is still sensitive to global headwinds.

RBI has released the seventh edition of its statistical publication titled “Handbook of Statistics on Indian States 2021-22”.

This seventh edition incorporates two new sections-Health and Environment. It also incorporates nine new tables.

आरबीआई की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार 2022-23 में भारत की जीडीपी लगभग 7% की वृद्धि दर से बढ़ने की संभावना है।

Finance Ministry issued a notification on 17 November to amend Nationalised Banks (Management and Miscellaneous Provisions) Scheme, 1970.

The maximum tenure of the Managing Director and other whole-time directors of PSBs has been raised from 5 years to 10 years, while the superannuation (retirement) age has been retained at 60.

Earlier, the maximum tenure of an MD or the executive director of a PSU bank was 5 years or until they reach 60, whichever was earlier.

Government appoints Managing Directors from Whole-time Directors (WTD) of public sector banks.

Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) recommends the names of Whole-time Directors (WTDs).

No Shave November is an initiative to raise cancer awareness.

No Shave November is an initiative that is brought up every year as the winter season approaches.

It is an initiative in which a person does not perform shaving/ grooming activities but allows them to grow with the aim of raising awareness about cancer.

For many years, no-shave November has been a tradition, but in 2009, the Chicago-based Hill family decided to reinvent the activity.

The motive behind this was to raise funds for the charity. Currently, Matthew Hill Foundation is working for the cause.

A similar initiative is “Movember”, which is based on men growing out their moustaches in November.

The movement gained momentum over time and began to address a variety of male health issues, such as prostate cancer, mental health issues, testicular cancer.

Movember has grown into a community where both men and women can take part. The men are called Mo Brothers and the women are called Mo Sisters.

About $12 million has been raised through the "No Shave November" initiative, and $87.9 million from "Movember", for cancer awareness, research, and prevention.

In India, various schemes were launched to fight cancer at the national level as well as at the state level as well.

National Program for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS) has been implemented up to the district level.

National Cancer Grid (NCG) was established which is a network comprising cancer centres, research institutes, patient groups and charitable organizations across the country.

NCG established the Koita Centre for Digital Oncology (KCDO) with an aim to promote the use of digital technologies and tools to improve cancer care across India in August 2022.

World Heritage Week 2022 will be celebrated from 19 to 25 November.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will celebrate World Heritage Week at some famous sites in Aurangabad, Maharashtra from 19 November to 25 November.

During this period, an exhibition of old photographs and drawings will be held at Cave No. 13 of Ellora.

Classical dance performances will be held at Ellora, Daulatabad (Devagiri) Fort and Bibi Ka Maqbara on November 19, 20 and 25.

The Ajanta and Ellora caves are included in World Heritage sites, while other highly preserved monuments in the region include the Daulatabad (Devagiri) Fort, Bibi Ka Maqbara, and the Aurangabad Caves.

Entry to Archaeological Survey of India monuments will be free for all on November 19 to mark the beginning of World Heritage Week.

World Heritage Day is celebrated every year on 18 April.

In 1972, UNESCO's member states adopted the World Heritage Convention.

This World Heritage Convention has been ratified by 191 State Parties, including India.

The Convention was officially ratified by India on November 14, 1977.

India-US launched ‘Operation Broader Sword’

India and the USA, jointly conducted an ‘Operation Broader Sword’ to stop the illegal shipment of drugs through the International Mail System.

It targeted shipments of illicit, potentially dangerous, unapproved prescription drugs, combination medical devices, and synthetic drug precursors shipped through International Mail Facilities.

The operation resulted in the interception of over 500 shipments of illicit and unapproved prescription drugs bound for US consumers.

CarTrade Tech to acquire OLX India's auto business for Rs 537 cr

Mumbai-based used cars platform CarTrade Tech Ltd will acquire online marketplace OLX India's auto sales business for Rs 537 crore.

CarTrade will acquire a 100% stake in Sobek Auto India Pvt Ltd, the entity that houses OLX India’s Automotive business, in an all-cash deal.

The acquisition will likely to be completed in 21-30 days.

Sobek is a company incorporated under the Companies Act, of 2013.

It is engaged in the business of running an automotive digital platform.

OCA elects Sheikh Talal as the new President

Kuwait’s Sheikh Talal Fahad Al Ahmad Al Sabah has been elected as the new President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

He replaced his older brother Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, who led the OCA for 30 years until 2021.

The OCA was founded in 1982 by his father Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who led it until 1990.

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is a governing body of sports in Asia, currently with 45 member National Olympic Committees.

Gujarat CM launches pilot project of ‘Antyodaya Shramik Suraksha Yojana’

Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel launched the Antyodaya Shram Suraksha Accident Insurance Scheme from Kheda

All those registered under the e-Shram portal from Nadiad will benefit from the scheme.

It is being implemented through the Indian Postal Department, the IPPB, and the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Under this scheme, insurance with a premium of Rs. 289 and Rs. 499 per year will be a big support to workers in the event of death or partial disability.

इसे भारतीय डाक विभाग, आईपीपीबी और श्रम एवं रोजगार मंत्रालय के माध्यम से कार्यान्वित किया जा रहा है।

इस योजना के तहत 100 रुपये के प्रीमियम पर बीमा मिलता है. 289 और रु. मृत्यु या आंशिक विकलांगता की स्थिति में प्रति वर्ष 499 रुपये श्रमिकों के लिए एक बड़ा समर्थन होगा।

It was established by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 1989, after the day the world approximately reached a population of five billion, which was observed on 11 July 1987.

According to a study by Invesco Global Sovereign Asset Management, India has overtaken China to become the most attractive emerging market for investing in sovereign wealth funds this year.

Reason: This is due to its solid demographics, political stability, and proactive regulation. 

Positives for the nation also include the rapidly expanding demography, strong regulatory actions, and a welcoming climate for sovereign investors.

L&T and Spain's Navantia sign agreement for submarine project

L&T has signed a teaming agreement with Spanish-based Navantia for the submission of a techno-commercial bid for the Indian Navy’s prestigious P75 (India) submarine program.

P75 (India) Submarine Project is expected to be valued at €4.8 billion.

Navantia would carry out the design of P75(I) submarines based on its S80 class of submarines.

The first S80 class submarine was launched in 2021 and is undergoing sea trials prior to its delivery to Spanish Navy.
