Cricketer Karuna Jain announces retirement from all forms of cricket

The cricketer Karuna has announced her retirement from all forms of Cricket.

She has played five Test matches out of which she made 195 runs with 40 as her highest score since making her debut against England at Delhi in November 2005.

In August 2014. she has played her last Test for India against England at Wormsley.

She has also played 44 ODIs and scored 987 runs with a solitary hundred and nine fifties and 103 as her highest score.

Nakul Jain appointed as CEO of Paytm Payment Service

Parent company of Paytm, One97 Communications has appointed Nakul Jain as the CEO of Paytm Payments Services Ltd (PPSL).

He replaced Praveen Sharma, who is now serving as the acting CEO of PPSL.

Praveen Sharma has been promoted to oversee the organisation’s commerce vertical in addition to his other duties.

Nakul Jain has served as managing director of private banking, priority banking, deposits and branch banking at Standard Chartered Bank.

Wasfia becomes first Bangladeshi to scale K2

Mountaineer Wasifa Nazreen (39) has become the first Bangladeshi to scale the second highest mountain peak K2 in Pakistan.

She has climbed the 8611 metres high K2 mountain peak.

Wasifa Nazreen has also climbed Mount Everest in 2012 and became the second woman from Bangladesh to do so.

The team consisted of 21 mountaineers, including some of the most renowned climbers in the world like Mingma Tenzi Sherpa, Mingma David Sherpa, and Nirmal Purja.

टीम में 21 पर्वतारोही शामिल थे, जिनमें मिंगमा तेनज़ी शेरपा, मिंगमा डेविड शेरपा और निर्मल पुरजा जैसे दुनिया के कुछ सबसे प्रसिद्ध पर्वतारोही शामिल थे।

City Union Bank, Aditya Birla Health signs bancassurance pact

City Union Bank and Aditya Birla Health Insurance Co Ltd (ABHICL), have signed bancassurance partnership for the distribution of health insurance products through the former’s network of branches across the country.

CUB has already signed bancassurance pacts with Star Health and Alliance Insurance, and Care Health (formerly known as Religare Health Insurance Co).

The CUB has also signed bancassurance pact with Royal Sundaram General Insurance.

Renowned Marathi writer Anant Yashwant Khare passes away

Renowned Marathi writer Anant Yashwant Khare has passed away in Pune at 76.

Noted work:  ‘Antajichi Bakhar’,  ‘Bakhar Antakalachi’ and ‘Udya’. 

He received the Bhai Madhavrao Bagal Award for his book ‘Kahani Manav Pranyachi’ in 2010.

He was awarded with Granthali, Vidarbha Sahitya Sangh, and Lokmangal.

He was offered the Sahitya Akademi award for his novel 'Udya' in 2020  but he politely refused as by then he had decided not to accept any awards.

प्रख्यात मराठी लेखक अनंत यशवंत खरे का 76 वर्ष की आयु में पुणे में निधन हो गया।

India grants USD 2.5 million to UNRWA for Palestine refugees

India has contributed USD 2.5 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

India is a dedicated donor to UNRWA and donated USD 20 million in support of core UNRWA services to Palestine refugees across the Middle East since 2018.

The UNRWA was established as a humanitarian agency in 1949.

This agency is fully funded through voluntary contributions and grants from donor countries.

भारत ने फिलिस्तीन शरणार्थियों के लिए UNRWA को 2.5 मिलियन अमरीकी डालर का अनुदान दिया

ADB approves $96 mn loan to HP for safe drinking water project

The Asian Development Bank has approved $96.3 million loan for safe drinking water and sanitation project in Himachal Pradesh.

The loan has been provided under the Himachal Pradesh Rural Drinking Water Improvement and Livelihood Project.

Aim: To provide piped water to all rural households by 2024.

This also upgrade water supply infrastructure and strengthen institutional capacity to ensure safe, sustainable, and inclusive rural water supply and sanitation servic es.

सुरक्षित पेयजल परियोजना के लिए एडीबी ने हिमाचल प्रदेश को 96 मिलियन डॉलर के ऋण को मंजूरी दी

एशियाई विकास बैंक ने हिमाचल प्रदेश में सुरक्षित पेयजल और स्वच्छता परियोजना के लिए 96.3 मिलियन डॉलर के ऋण को मंजूरी दी है।

हिमाचल प्रदेश ग्रामीण पेयजल सुधार एवं आजीविका परियोजना के तहत ऋण प्रदान किया गया है।

उद्देश्य: 2024 तक सभी ग्रामीण घरों में पाइप से पानी उपलब्ध कराना।

यह जल आपूर्ति के बुनियादी ढांचे को भी उन्नत करता है और सुरक्षित, टिकाऊ और समावेशी ग्रामीण जल आपूर्ति और स्वच्छता सेवाओं को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए संस्थागत क्षमता को मजबूत करता है।

The three books are:

Monkeypox vaccine IMVANEX approved in Europe

Danish biotechnology company, Bavarian Nordic (BAVA.CO) has been received the European Commission's approval for its Imvanex vaccine (As protection against monkeypox).

Imvanex has been approved in the EU since 2013 for the prevention of smallpox.

This is considered a potential vaccine for monkeypox because of the similarity between monkeypox and smallpox.

Recently, the WHO has declared monkeypox a public health emergency of international concern.

मंकीपॉक्स वैक्सीन IMVANEX यूरोप में स्वीकृत

डेनिश बायोटेक्नोलॉजी कंपनी, बवेरियन नॉर्डिक (BAVA.CO) को इसके इम्वेनेक्स वैक्सीन (मंकीपॉक्स से सुरक्षा के रूप में) के लिए यूरोपीय आयोग की मंजूरी मिल गई है।

चेचक की रोकथाम के लिए 2013 से यूरोपीय संघ में Imvanex को मंजूरी दी गई है।

मंकीपॉक्स और चेचक के बीच समानता के कारण इसे मंकीपॉक्स के लिए एक संभावित टीका माना जाता है।

Parshottam Rupala launches subsidiary of NDDB for manure management

Parshottam Rupala (Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying) has launched NDDB MRIDA Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary company of National Dairy Development Boar (NDDB).

Aim: To provide structured impetus to manure management efforts.

NDDB has established NDDB MRIDA Limited (Unlisted Public Limited Company) under the Companies Act, 2013 on July 1, 2022.

This will help in savings to the farmers by virtue of the replacement of cooking fuel with biogas.

पुरुषोत्तम रूपाला (केंद्रीय मत्स्य पालन, पशुपालन और डेयरी मंत्री) ने NDDB MRIDA लिमिटेड, राष्ट्रीय डेयरी विकास सूअर (NDDB) की पूर्ण स्वामित्व वाली सहायक कंपनी लॉन्च की है।

उद्देश्य: खाद प्रबंधन प्रयासों को संरचित प्रोत्साहन प्रदान करना।

NDDB ने 1 जुलाई, 2022 को कंपनी अधिनियम, 2013 के तहत NDDB MRIDA लिमिटेड (असूचीबद्ध पब्लिक लिमिटेड कंपनी) की स्थापना की है।

इससे बायोगैस के साथ खाना पकाने के ईंधन के प्रतिस्थापन के आधार पर किसानों को बचत में मदद मिलेगी।

The head of the Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah has issued a decree to appoint Ahmad Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Sabah as the Prime Minister the new government.

He succeeded Sheikh Sabah Al Khaled, who resigned in April 2022.

He is a retired Kuwaiti military with the rank of Lieutenant-General at the Ministry of Interior and the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior since March 9, 2022.

World Bank appoints Indian national Indermit Gill as chief economist

Indian national, Indermit Gill has been appointed as a new Chief Economist and Senior Vice President for Development Economics of World Bank, will be effective September 1, 2022.

He will succeed American economist, Carmen Reinhart.

He is currently serving as the Vice President for Equitable Growth, Finance, and Institutions.

He will be the second Indian to serve as chief economist after Kaushik Basu who was Chief Economist of the World Bank from 2012 to 2016.

The Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust (Hind Swaraj Sangh) would confer the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak National Award 2023 to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Pune on August 1, 2023.

Reason: This award recognizes PM Modi's supreme leadership under which India has climbed the ladder of progress

It is presented annually on the occasion of Lokmanya Tilak's death anniversary.

According to the Investment Bank Goldman Sachs, India is poised to become the world’s second-largest economy by 2075.

As per the report, India would cross Japan, Germany, and the US With a population of 1.4 billion people.

India’s GDP is estimated to expand remarkably, reaching 52.5 trillion dollars surpassing the US GDP projection.

The labour force participation set to make India the second-largest economy in the world by 2075.

L&T and Spain's Navantia sign agreement for submarine project

L&T has signed a teaming agreement with Spanish-based Navantia for the submission of a techno-commercial bid for the Indian Navy’s prestigious P75 (India) submarine program.

P75 (India) Submarine Project is expected to be valued at €4.8 billion.

Navantia would carry out the design of P75(I) submarines based on its S80 class of submarines.

The first S80 class submarine was launched in 2021 and is undergoing sea trials prior to its delivery to Spanish Navy.

P75 (भारत) पनडुब्बी परियोजना का मूल्य €4.8 बिलियन होने की उम्मीद है।

नवंतिया अपनी S80 श्रेणी की पनडुब्बियों के आधार पर P75(I) पनडुब्बियों का डिज़ाइन तैयार करेगी।

पहली S80 श्रेणी की पनडुब्बी 2021 में लॉन्च की गई थी और स्पेनिश नौसेना को इसकी डिलीवरी से पहले समुद्री परीक्षणों से गुजर रही है।

According to a study by Invesco Global Sovereign Asset Management, India has overtaken China to become the most attractive emerging market for investing in sovereign wealth funds this year.

Reason: This is due to its solid demographics, political stability, and proactive regulation. 

Positives for the nation also include the rapidly expanding demography, strong regulatory actions, and a welcoming climate for sovereign investors.

World Population Day 2023: 11 July

World Population Day is observed every year on July 11 in order to raise awareness about global population issues, including population control.

2023 theme: Unleashing the power of gender equality: Uplifting the voices of women and girls to unlock our world’s infinite possibilities. 

It was established by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 1989, after the day the world approximately reached a population of five billion, which was observed on 11 July 1987.

जनसंख्या नियंत्रण सहित वैश्विक जनसंख्या मुद्दों के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने के लिए हर साल 11 जुलाई को विश्व जनसंख्या दिवस मनाया जाता है।

2023 की थीम: लैंगिक समानता की शक्ति को उजागर करना: हमारी दुनिया की अनंत संभावनाओं को अनलॉक करने के लिए महिलाओं और लड़कियों की आवाज़ को ऊपर उठाना।

इसकी स्थापना 1989 में संयुक्त राष्ट्र विकास कार्यक्रम (यूएनडीपी) द्वारा की गई थी, उस दिन के बाद जब दुनिया की आबादी लगभग पांच अरब हो गई थी, जो 11 जुलाई 1987 को मनाया गया था।

MoHUA conducts SBM-U 2.0 Planning & Implementation Review-cum-Workshop

The Housing Ministry organized a review-cum-workshop to evaluate and accelerate the planning and implementation of the SBM-Urban 2.0.

PM Modi launched the 2.0 versions of SBM-U and AMRUT on October 1, 2021.

SBM-U 2.0: Achieving 100% waste segregation in all households and premises and 100% door-to-door collection of segregated waste from each. 

AMRUT 2.0: To provide complete coverage of water supply to all households and sewerage and septage in 500 AMRUT cities.

AMRUT 2.0: 500 AMRUT शहरों में सभी घरों में जल आपूर्ति और सीवरेज और सेप्टेज की पूर्ण कवरेज प्रदान करना।

Gujarat CM launches pilot project of ‘Antyodaya Shramik Suraksha Yojana’

Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel launched the Antyodaya Shram Suraksha Accident Insurance Scheme from Kheda

All those registered under the e-Shram portal from Nadiad will benefit from the scheme.

It is being implemented through the Indian Postal Department, the IPPB, and the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Under this scheme, insurance with a premium of Rs. 289 and Rs. 499 per year will be a big support to workers in the event of death or partial disability.

नडियाद से ई-श्रम पोर्टल के तहत पंजीकृत सभी लोगों को योजना से लाभ होगा।

इसे भारतीय डाक विभाग, आईपीपीबी और श्रम एवं रोजगार मंत्रालय के माध्यम से कार्यान्वित किया जा रहा है।

इस योजना के तहत 100 रुपये के प्रीमियम पर बीमा मिलता है. 289 और रु. मृत्यु या आंशिक विकलांगता की स्थिति में प्रति वर्ष 499 रुपये श्रमिकों के लिए एक बड़ा समर्थन होगा।

OCA elects Sheikh Talal as the new President

Kuwait’s Sheikh Talal Fahad Al Ahmad Al Sabah has been elected as the new President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

He replaced his older brother Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, who led the OCA for 30 years until 2021.

The OCA was founded in 1982 by his father Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who led it until 1990.

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is a governing body of sports in Asia, currently with 45 member National Olympic Committees.
