World Bee Day: 20 May

World Bee Day is observed annually on May 20 across the world with an aim to recognise the importance of bees and other pollinators in the ecosystem.

The theme 2022:  “Bee Engaged: Celebrating the diversity of bees and beekeeping systems”.

The United Nations mark May 20 as World Bee Day to celebrate the birth anniversary of beekeeping pioneer Anton Jansa.

The Government of Slovenia has proposed the idea of celebrating May 20 as World Bee Day in 2016.

स्लोवेनिया सरकार ने 20 मई को 2016 में विश्व मधुमक्खी दिवस के रूप में मनाने का विचार प्रस्तावित किया है।

SC orders constitution of 25 special courts for cheque bounce cases

The Supreme Court has ordered to constitute 25 special courts with a retired judge in five states for expeditious disposal of cheque bounce cases.

The special courts under the Negotiable Instruments Act will be set up in Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan in view of a large number of pending cases.

The special courts shall follow the same procedure with respect to trial as mandated by the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने चेक बाउंस के मामलों के लिए 25 विशेष अदालतों के गठन का आदेश दिया

उच्चतम न्यायालय ने चेक बाउंस के मामलों के शीघ्र निपटान के लिए पांच राज्यों में एक सेवानिवृत्त न्यायाधीश के साथ 25 विशेष अदालतें गठित करने का आदेश दिया है।

बड़ी संख्या में लंबित मामलों को देखते हुए महाराष्ट्र, दिल्ली, गुजरात, उत्तर प्रदेश और राजस्थान में नेगोशिएबल इंस्ट्रूमेंट्स एक्ट के तहत विशेष अदालतें स्थापित की जाएंगी।

विशेष अदालतें मुकदमे के संबंध में उसी प्रक्रिया का पालन करेंगी जैसा कि आपराधिक प्रक्रिया संहिता, 1973 द्वारा अनिवार्य है।

NEFT, RTGS facility available for post office savings account holder

According to a Department of Post circular, the NEFT facility has been made available for Post Office Savings Accounts holders from May 18, 2022, and RTGS facility will be available from May 31, 2022.

This facility enables POSB customers to transfer funds to and from other bank accounts to POSB Accounts in DoP-CBS (DoP-CBS stands for Department of Posts - Core Banking Solutions). 

डाकघर बचत खाताधारकों के लिए एनईएफटी, आरटीजीएस सुविधा उपलब्ध

डाक विभाग के एक परिपत्र के अनुसार, डाकघर बचत खाता धारकों के लिए एनईएफटी सुविधा 18 मई, 2022 से उपलब्ध कराई गई है और आरटीजीएस सुविधा 31 मई, 2022 से उपलब्ध होगी।

यह सुविधा पीओएसबी ग्राहकों को डीओपी-सीबीएस (डीओपी-सीबीएस का अर्थ डाक विभाग - कोर बैंकिंग सॉल्यूशंस) में अन्य बैंक खातों से पीओएसबी खातों में धन हस्तांतरित करने में सक्षम बनाता है।

HANSA-NG Aircraft successfully completed Engine Relight test in Air

HANSA-NG (flying trainer Aircraft) has successfully completed an in-flight engine relight test at DRDO’s Aeronautical Test Range (ATR) facility, Challakere, Karnataka.

The aircraft was designed & Developed by CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories (CSIR-NAL).

The flight test was carried out at an altitude of 7000-8000 feet with a speed range of 60 to 70 knots by Wg Cdr K V Prakash and Wg Cdr NDS Reddy.

Assam Rifles inked a Tripartite MoU with Axis Bank and National Integrity and Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO) to establish a Centre of Excellence and Wellness to secure a better future for the youth of Nagaland.

The centre named after Late Capt N Kenguruse MVC Centre of Excellence and Wellness will be located at Chieswema in Kohima district.

RBI directs banks to provide a cardless cash withdrawal facility

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has directed banks and ATM operators to provide cardless cash withdrawal facilities at all ATMs.

All banks, automated teller machine (ATM) networks, and White Label ATM Operators (WLAOs) may provide the option of ICCW at their ATMs.

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has been advised to facilitate Unified Payments Interface (UPI) integration with all banks and ATM networks.

The European Commission has pledged up to USD 9.5 billion of macro-financial assistance in the form of loans.

GeM signs MoU with SEWA to boost Women-led Enterprises

Government eMarketplace (GeM) and Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) have signed an MoU for the advocacy, outreach, mobilization and capacity-building of last-mile women-led enterprises.

The MoU was signed by the Chief Executive Officer of GeM P. K. Singh and Vice-President of SEWA Rehana Riyawala.

GeM will train SEWA members to assist and enable women-led small enterprises with GeM processes related to seller registration and onboarding on the platform.

India to introduce “made in India” skin test for TB

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has announced to launch of a newly approved skin test for tuberculosis (TB) diagnosis called c-TB in the country while addressing the 35th board meeting of the Stop TB Partnership through video-conferencing.

This TB Kit will be cost-effective and provide immense benefit to other high burden countries as well.

He also announced to launch of a new initiative “Adopt people with TB”.

भारत टीबी के लिए "भारत में निर्मित" त्वचा परीक्षण शुरू करेगा

केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य मंत्री मनसुख मंडाविया ने वीडियो-कॉन्फ्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से स्टॉप टीबी पार्टनरशिप की 35 वीं बोर्ड बैठक को संबोधित करते हुए देश में तपेदिक (टीबी) निदान के लिए एक नया स्वीकृत त्वचा परीक्षण शुरू करने की घोषणा की है, जिसे सी-टीबी कहा जाता है।

यह टीबी किट लागत प्रभावी होगी और अन्य उच्च बोझ वाले देशों को भी अत्यधिक लाभ प्रदान करेगी।

उन्होंने एक नई पहल "टीबी वाले लोगों को अपनाएं" शुरू करने की भी घोषणा की।

Nikhat Zareen wins gold at Women's World Boxing Championships

Indian boxer Nikhat Zareen won the gold medal in 52kg (Category) after defeating Thailand’s Jitpong Jutamas at the 2022 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships, Istanbul.

Nikhat became the fifth Indian woman to secure a gold medal at the World Boxing Championships after Mary Kom, Sarita Devi, Jenny RL, and Lekha KC.

It was also India’s first gold medal since boxing great Mary Kom won it in 2018.

Bronze winners: Manisha Moun (57 kg), Parveen Hooda (63 kg).

2018 में महान मुक्केबाज मैरी कॉम के जीतने के बाद से यह भारत का पहला स्वर्ण पदक भी था।

India-US launched ‘Operation Broader Sword’

India and the USA, jointly conducted an ‘Operation Broader Sword’ to stop the illegal shipment of drugs through the International Mail System.

It targeted shipments of illicit, potentially dangerous, unapproved prescription drugs, combination medical devices, and synthetic drug precursors shipped through International Mail Facilities.

The operation resulted in the interception of over 500 shipments of illicit and unapproved prescription drugs bound for US consumers.

भारत-अमेरिका ने शुरू किया 'ऑपरेशन ब्रॉडर स्वॉर्ड'

भारत और अमेरिका ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मेल सिस्टम के माध्यम से दवाओं के अवैध शिपमेंट को रोकने के लिए संयुक्त रूप से 'ऑपरेशन ब्रॉडर स्वॉर्ड' चलाया।

NLU Delhi launches research affiliate program ‘Eklavya’

The National Law University (NLU), Delhi launched Eklavya, a ‘Research Affiliate’ program, for those who do not have a traditional law degree.

Aim: To emphasize its commitment to actively seek partnerships outside the varsity and draw from their experiences and perspectives to develop quality legal scholarship. 

It is open to those who have at least three years of demonstrable experience working on issues that have a significant interface with the law.

CarTrade Tech to acquire OLX India's auto business for Rs 537 cr

Mumbai-based used cars platform CarTrade Tech Ltd will acquire online marketplace OLX India's auto sales business for Rs 537 crore.

CarTrade will acquire a 100% stake in Sobek Auto India Pvt Ltd, the entity that houses OLX India’s Automotive business, in an all-cash deal.

The acquisition will likely to be completed in 21-30 days.

Sobek is a company incorporated under the Companies Act, of 2013.

It is engaged in the business of running an automotive digital platform.

CarTrade Tech 537 करोड़ रुपये में OLX इंडिया के ऑटो कारोबार का अधिग्रहण करेगी

OCA elects Sheikh Talal as the new President

Kuwait’s Sheikh Talal Fahad Al Ahmad Al Sabah has been elected as the new President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

He replaced his older brother Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, who led the OCA for 30 years until 2021.

The OCA was founded in 1982 by his father Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who led it until 1990.

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is a governing body of sports in Asia, currently with 45 member National Olympic Committees.

Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel launched the Antyodaya Shram Suraksha Accident Insurance Scheme from Kheda

All those registered under the e-Shram portal from Nadiad will benefit from the scheme.

It is being implemented through the Indian Postal Department, the IPPB, and the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Under this scheme, insurance with a premium of Rs. 289 and Rs. 499 per year will be a big support to workers in the event of death or partial disability.

इसे भारतीय डाक विभाग, आईपीपीबी और श्रम एवं रोजगार मंत्रालय के माध्यम से कार्यान्वित किया जा रहा है।

इस योजना के तहत 100 रुपये के प्रीमियम पर बीमा मिलता है. 289 और रु. मृत्यु या आंशिक विकलांगता की स्थिति में प्रति वर्ष 499 रुपये श्रमिकों के लिए एक बड़ा समर्थन होगा।

MoHUA conducts SBM-U 2.0 Planning & Implementation Review-cum-Workshop

The Housing Ministry organized a review-cum-workshop to evaluate and accelerate the planning and implementation of the SBM-Urban 2.0.

PM Modi launched the 2.0 versions of SBM-U and AMRUT on October 1, 2021.

SBM-U 2.0: Achieving 100% waste segregation in all households and premises and 100% door-to-door collection of segregated waste from each. 

AMRUT 2.0: To provide complete coverage of water supply to all households and sewerage and septage in 500 AMRUT cities.

World Population Day is observed every year on July 11 in order to raise awareness about global population issues, including population control.

2023 theme: Unleashing the power of gender equality: Uplifting the voices of women and girls to unlock our world’s infinite possibilities. 

It was established by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 1989, after the day the world approximately reached a population of five billion, which was observed on 11 July 1987.

India overtakes China as most attractive emerging market for investing

According to a study by Invesco Global Sovereign Asset Management, India has overtaken China to become the most attractive emerging market for investing in sovereign wealth funds this year.

Reason: This is due to its solid demographics, political stability, and proactive regulation. 

Positives for the nation also include the rapidly expanding demography, strong regulatory actions, and a welcoming climate for sovereign investors.

L&T and Spain's Navantia sign agreement for submarine project

L&T has signed a teaming agreement with Spanish-based Navantia for the submission of a techno-commercial bid for the Indian Navy’s prestigious P75 (India) submarine program.

P75 (India) Submarine Project is expected to be valued at €4.8 billion.

Navantia would carry out the design of P75(I) submarines based on its S80 class of submarines.

The first S80 class submarine was launched in 2021 and is undergoing sea trials prior to its delivery to Spanish Navy. 

एलएंडटी और स्पेन की नवान्टिया ने पनडुब्बी परियोजना के लिए समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किये

एलएंडटी ने भारतीय नौसेना के प्रतिष्ठित P75 (भारत) पनडुब्बी कार्यक्रम के लिए तकनीकी-वाणिज्यिक बोली प्रस्तुत करने के लिए स्पेनिश-आधारित नवंतिया के साथ एक टीमिंग समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं।

P75 (भारत) पनडुब्बी परियोजना का मूल्य €4.8 बिलियन होने की उम्मीद है।

नवंतिया अपनी S80 श्रेणी की पनडुब्बियों के आधार पर P75(I) पनडुब्बियों का डिज़ाइन तैयार करेगी।

पहली S80 श्रेणी की पनडुब्बी 2021 में लॉन्च की गई थी और स्पेनिश नौसेना को इसकी डिलीवरी से पहले समुद्री परीक्षणों से गुजर रही है।
