RBI extends PIDF scheme to street vendors covered under PM SVANidhi

RBI has announced to include PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi Scheme) beneficiaries of tier 1, 2 centres in Payments Infrastructure Development Fund (PIDF) Scheme

PIDF Scheme was launched by RBI to encourage deployment of Points of Sale infrastructure (both physical and digital) in tier-3 to tier-6 centres, NE states

PIDF has a corpus of Rs. 345 crores, where RBI's contribution is 250 crore and 95 crore from major authorised card networks in India.

RBI extends Scope of Permitted Devices under Tokenisation

RBI has extended the scope of tokenization to include consumer devices like laptops, desktops, wearables, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, etc.

Earlier, RBI had permitted authorized card payment networks to offer card tokenisation services to any token requestor through mobile phones and tablets in 2019

Permission for tokenization extends to various channels or token storage mechanisms

Its ultimate responsibility rests with the authorized card networks

आरबीआई ने टोकनाइजेशन के तहत अनुमत उपकरणों का दायरा बढ़ाया

आरबीआई ने लैपटॉप, डेस्कटॉप, वियरेबल्स, इंटरनेट ऑफ थिंग्स (IoT) डिवाइस आदि जैसे उपभोक्ता उपकरणों को शामिल करने के लिए टोकन के दायरे को बढ़ा दिया है।

Govt replaces UAS Rules, 2021 with liberalised Drone Rules, 2021

Ministry of Civil Aviation has repealed Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Rules, 2021 and replaced it with the liberalized Drone Rules, 2021.

Important features of liberalized Drone Rules, 2021:

  • Number of forms reduced from 25 to 5.
  • Types of fee reduced from 72 to 4.
  • Quantum of fee reduced to nominal levels and delinked with size of drone.
  • No permission required for operating drones in green zones.
  • Maximum penalty for violations reduced to INR 1 lakh.

सरकार ने यूएएस नियम, 2021 को उदारीकृत ड्रोन नियम, 2021 से बदल दिया है

नागरिक उड्डयन मंत्रालय ने मानव रहित विमान प्रणाली (यूएएस) नियम, 2021 को निरस्त कर दिया है और इसे उदारीकृत ड्रोन नियम, 2021 से बदल दिया है।

उदारीकृत ड्रोन नियम, 2021 की महत्वपूर्ण विशेषताएं:

  • प्रपत्रों की संख्या 25 से घटाकर 5 की गई।
  • शुल्क के प्रकार 72 से घटाकर 4 किए गए।
  • शुल्क की मात्रा को नाममात्र के स्तर तक घटाया गया और ड्रोन के आकार के साथ अलग किया गया।
  • ग्रीन जोन में ड्रोन के संचालन के लिए किसी अनुमति की आवश्यकता नहीं है।
  • उल्लंघन के लिए अधिकतम जुर्माना घटाकर INR 1 लाख कर दिया गया।

RBI clears appointment of Hitendra Dave as CEO of HSBC India

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the appointment of Hitendra Dave as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HSBC India with effect from August 24, 2021

He will have a tenure of three years.

HSBC had announced the appointment of Hitendra Dave as the Chief Executive Officer of HSBC India in June 2021

HSBC Bank India is an Indian subsidiary of UK-based HSBC Holdings plc, with its operational head office in Mumbai.

Government approves increase of Bank Employees Family Pension

Central Govt has approved Indian Banks’ Association’s (IBA) proposal to increase the family pension to 30% of the last salary drawn.

After this, family pension would go up to as much as Rs 30,000 to Rs 35,000 per family of bank employees.

Govt has also approved the proposal to increase employers’ contribution under the NPS to 14% from the existing 10%.

RBI appointed Ajay Kumar as its Executive Director

Ajay Kumar has been appointed as the Executive Director (ED) of Reserve Bank of India with effect from August 20, 2021.

Carol Furtado named as interim CEO of Ujjivan Small Finance Bank

Ujjivan Small Finance Bank has named Carol Furtado as interim CEO of the Bank after whole time CEO Nitin Chugh resigned recently with effect from 30th September 2021

She has been appointed as the officer on special duty (OSD) of the bank.

She is currently serving as the CEO of Ujjivan Financial Services.

G Sathiyan wins ITTF Czech international open 2021

India’s top paddler G Sathiyan has won Czech International Table Tennis Federation tournament at Olomouc in Czech Republic, after beating Yevhen Ryshchepa of Ukraine in straight sets 11-9, 11-6, 11-6,14-12.

This is only his third ITTF Challenger title following triumphs in Belgium Open 2016 and Spanish Open 2017.

Prior to this, he paired up with Manika Batra to win mixed doubles title at WTT Contender in Budapest.

India-US launched ‘Operation Broader Sword’

India and the USA, jointly conducted an ‘Operation Broader Sword’ to stop the illegal shipment of drugs through the International Mail System.

It targeted shipments of illicit, potentially dangerous, unapproved prescription drugs, combination medical devices, and synthetic drug precursors shipped through International Mail Facilities.

The operation resulted in the interception of over 500 shipments of illicit and unapproved prescription drugs bound for US consumers.

CarTrade Tech to acquire OLX India's auto business for Rs 537 cr

Mumbai-based used cars platform CarTrade Tech Ltd will acquire online marketplace OLX India's auto sales business for Rs 537 crore.

CarTrade will acquire a 100% stake in Sobek Auto India Pvt Ltd, the entity that houses OLX India’s Automotive business, in an all-cash deal.

The acquisition will likely to be completed in 21-30 days.

Sobek is a company incorporated under the Companies Act, of 2013.

It is engaged in the business of running an automotive digital platform.

OCA elects Sheikh Talal as the new President

Kuwait’s Sheikh Talal Fahad Al Ahmad Al Sabah has been elected as the new President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

He replaced his older brother Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, who led the OCA for 30 years until 2021.

The OCA was founded in 1982 by his father Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who led it until 1990.

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is a governing body of sports in Asia, currently with 45 member National Olympic Committees.

कुवैत के शेख तलाल फहद अल अहमद अल सबा को एशिया ओलंपिक परिषद (OCA) का नया अध्यक्ष चुना गया है।

उन्होंने अपने बड़े भाई शेख अहमद अल-फहद अल-सबा का स्थान लिया, जिन्होंने 2021 तक 30 वर्षों तक ओसीए का नेतृत्व किया।

OCA की स्थापना 1982 में उनके पिता फहद अल-अहमद अल-जबर अल-सबा ने की थी, जिन्होंने 1990 तक इसका नेतृत्व किया।

Gujarat CM launches pilot project of ‘Antyodaya Shramik Suraksha Yojana’

Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel launched the Antyodaya Shram Suraksha Accident Insurance Scheme from Kheda

All those registered under the e-Shram portal from Nadiad will benefit from the scheme.

It is being implemented through the Indian Postal Department, the IPPB, and the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Under this scheme, insurance with a premium of Rs. 289 and Rs. 499 per year will be a big support to workers in the event of death or partial disability.

नडियाद से ई-श्रम पोर्टल के तहत पंजीकृत सभी लोगों को योजना से लाभ होगा।

इसे भारतीय डाक विभाग, आईपीपीबी और श्रम एवं रोजगार मंत्रालय के माध्यम से कार्यान्वित किया जा रहा है।

इस योजना के तहत 100 रुपये के प्रीमियम पर बीमा मिलता है. 289 और रु. मृत्यु या आंशिक विकलांगता की स्थिति में प्रति वर्ष 499 रुपये श्रमिकों के लिए एक बड़ा समर्थन होगा।

MoHUA conducts SBM-U 2.0 Planning & Implementation Review-cum-Workshop

The Housing Ministry organized a review-cum-workshop to evaluate and accelerate the planning and implementation of the SBM-Urban 2.0.

PM Modi launched the 2.0 versions of SBM-U and AMRUT on October 1, 2021.

SBM-U 2.0: Achieving 100% waste segregation in all households and premises and 100% door-to-door collection of segregated waste from each. 

AMRUT 2.0: To provide complete coverage of water supply to all households and sewerage and septage in 500 AMRUT cities.

World Population Day is observed every year on July 11 in order to raise awareness about global population issues, including population control.

2023 theme: Unleashing the power of gender equality: Uplifting the voices of women and girls to unlock our world’s infinite possibilities. 

It was established by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 1989, after the day the world approximately reached a population of five billion, which was observed on 11 July 1987.

India overtakes China as most attractive emerging market for investing

According to a study by Invesco Global Sovereign Asset Management, India has overtaken China to become the most attractive emerging market for investing in sovereign wealth funds this year.

Reason: This is due to its solid demographics, political stability, and proactive regulation. 

Positives for the nation also include the rapidly expanding demography, strong regulatory actions, and a welcoming climate for sovereign investors.

L&T and Spain's Navantia sign agreement for submarine project

L&T has signed a teaming agreement with Spanish-based Navantia for the submission of a techno-commercial bid for the Indian Navy’s prestigious P75 (India) submarine program.

P75 (India) Submarine Project is expected to be valued at €4.8 billion.

Navantia would carry out the design of P75(I) submarines based on its S80 class of submarines.

The first S80 class submarine was launched in 2021 and is undergoing sea trials prior to its delivery to Spanish Navy. 

एलएंडटी और स्पेन की नवान्टिया ने पनडुब्बी परियोजना के लिए समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किये

एलएंडटी ने भारतीय नौसेना के प्रतिष्ठित P75 (भारत) पनडुब्बी कार्यक्रम के लिए तकनीकी-वाणिज्यिक बोली प्रस्तुत करने के लिए स्पेनिश-आधारित नवंतिया के साथ एक टीमिंग समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं।

P75 (भारत) पनडुब्बी परियोजना का मूल्य €4.8 बिलियन होने की उम्मीद है।

नवंतिया अपनी S80 श्रेणी की पनडुब्बियों के आधार पर P75(I) पनडुब्बियों का डिज़ाइन तैयार करेगी।

पहली S80 श्रेणी की पनडुब्बी 2021 में लॉन्च की गई थी और स्पेनिश नौसेना को इसकी डिलीवरी से पहले समुद्री परीक्षणों से गुजर रही है।
